Summit Participation
Nearly one-half of the world’s population resides in the Pacific Rim. Healthcare
policies and the detection and treatment of disease in this region have a profound
impact on populations and economies worldwide.
The Pacific Health Summit examines the issues surrounding global health through
discussions led by world-renowned leaders in research, medical practice, economics
and policy. The Summit has also launched an international collaboration with a new
focus on early detection as the most critical, economically viable and successful
approach to treating global disease.
The Summit has been recognized by the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC),
the premier forum for facilitating economic growth, cooperation, trade and investment
in the Asia-Pacific region. APEC leaders have welcomed Summit initiatives such as the International
Cancer Biomarker Consortium (ICBC) and the Early Health Initiative as opportunities to
transform global healthcare while engendering cooperation in life sciences innovation..
