Overview

The 2012 Summit theme of “Affordability and Technologies for Health” focuses on the reservoir of innovative ICT applications, diagnostics, vaccines and drugs, mobile phone applications, and original health programs that have the potential to drastically better the quality of care that patients receive throughout the world especially in less developed communities.

The Summit's Health Technology lab highlights first-rate examples of creative and affordable technologies that are designed with their end populations and users in mind. It also explores the challenges surrounding the uptake of innovations, and the pervasive questions of how best to implement, incentivize, and effectively deploy new technologies for health.

In the lead-up to the 2012 Summit, this lab will serve as a central hub that holistically examines this topic and explores the role that differing sectors—science, industry, policy, academia—have to play in developing and implementing disruptive health technologies.
